End of Hackership & Mexico time
Hackership ended in September, with an iOS app finished and 70% of the android one!
I spent 5 days home and then resumed my digital nomad life by flying to Mexico where I spent 2 months working for Hridaya Yoga (and doing some yoga and meditation at the same time^^). The school is located in the little sleepy town of Mazunte on the Pacific Coast, a gorgeous place with sauna heat and ideal-for-surfing waves. The downside was that internet was terrible (so definitely not a good digital nomad spot, despite what you might read elsewhere), which prevented me to continue working on my apps as it took SOOO long to do anything on the remote server. On the plus side, I can say that it made me work a lot on surrender, and I am apparently good to marry now!
So the project was to convert 2 old PERL websites with lots of content into wordpress. After quite a few trials and errors, I managed to scrape the websites and sanitize the data, and then imported the whole thing into wordpress.
I learned a few things about bulk import in wordpress in the process and as I couldn’t find very complete answer on google, here are a few snippets which you might find useful:
- Importing posts in bulk with categories in WordPress
- Importing programmatically into Blubrry Podcasting from xml feed
